Polish clubs Lech Poznan and Jagiellonia Bialystok discovered their full fixture schedules for the UEFA Europa League league phase on Saturday evening. Both teams will open their European campaigns with high-profile away matches in September.
Lech Poznan will begin their tournament on Thursday 17 September at 21:00 with a trip to London to face English Premier League side Crystal Palace. Jagiellonia Bialystok will enter the competition a day earlier, visiting Greek club Olympiacos on Wednesday 16 September at 21:00.
The current campaign represents an unusual season for Polish football. Poland has no teams competing in the UEFA Conference League, a competition previously regarded as a national specialty, but features two representatives in the main league phase of the Europa League.
Qualifying paths for Polish contenders
Lech Poznan, nicknamed Kolejorz, had set their sights on reaching the UEFA Champions League, but the Polish champions were eliminated following a disastrous second-leg defeat against Danish side Aarhus. The squad, managed by Niels Frederiksen, recovered in the Europa League qualifiers by defeating Faroe Islands champions KI Klaksvik and Swiss club Thun.
Jagiellonia Bialystok, known as Duma Podlasia, secured their place in the league phase through an impressive qualifying run. The Polish club knocked out Scottish side Rangers and Georgian team Iberia to reach the main draw of Europe's secondary club competition.
