Telewizja Polska will broadcast both legs of Lech Poznan's Europa League playoff tie against FC Thun, with coverage confirmed for the return match in Switzerland.
On Monday August 17, Polish public broadcaster Telewizja Polska secured rights for the first leg on August 20 in Poznan. Television bosses have now confirmed that the return leg on August 27 in Switzerland will also be shown live on free-to-air channels.
The winner of the two-leg tie will advance to the league phase of UEFA's second-tier competition. The losing side will enter the UEFA Conference League, ensuring Polish top-flight champions Lech Poznan will play European group football this autumn.
Europa League qualifying run
Lech Poznan reach the final qualifying round following a mixed European campaign. The club suffered a disappointing exit against Aarhus in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League before recovering in the Europa League third qualifying round against KI Klaksvik.
Lech won the home leg against KI Klaksvik 1-0 before travel disruption delayed the second leg by a day. Poznan completed a 6-0 aggregate victory in the rescheduled fixture. The club has postponed its domestic Ekstraklasa matches in both the previous and upcoming rounds to focus on European qualification.
No Polish club has reached the Europa League league phase since UEFA revamped its club competition format. Rakow Czestochowa was the last Polish team to appear in the tournament, competing during the final traditional group stage season in 2023-24.
FC Thun form and results
Swiss champions FC Thun present a potentially difficult obstacle despite mixed domestic results. Thun won the Swiss title last season following promotion and began their European season in Champions League qualifying, where they fell to Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb in extra time after a 1-1 draw and a 2-3 second leg defeat.
Thun then eliminated Vikingur after establishing a 3-0 first-leg lead before losing the return leg 2-3. In domestic action, Thun defeated Luzern 3-1 but suffered heavy league losses, falling 0-6 to Young Boys and 2-4 to FC Basel.
Last weekend, the Swiss club returned to winning ways by defeating sixth-tier side Saxon Sports 6-0 in the 1/32 round of the Swiss Cup.
Squad news and player availability
Lech Poznan enter the tie as the seeded team. Polish champions will play both matches against FC Thun without key striker Mikael Ishak.
However, Yannick Agnero and Terry Yegbe should be available for selection after resolving administrative formalities in their home countries over recent days.
