Levadiakos Ejected From Greek Cup, Asteras Reinstated

Levadiakos has been thrown out of the Superbet Greek Cup, with Asteras Tripolis taking the club's place in the competition's League Phase after an appeal by the Arcadian club was upheld.

Asteras Tripolis had challenged the result of their League Phase meeting with Levadiakos, a match Levadiakos won 2-0, arguing that Levadiakos had fielded a player named as Kobnan who was not eligible to take part. The Appeals Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) ruled in Asteras Tripolis's favor.

In a statement, the Appeals Committee said that at its most recent session it had accepted, by majority decision, the appeal filed on 20 August 2026 by Asteras Tripolis. It said it had imposed two penalties on Levadiakos: forfeiture of the match played on 18 August 2026 between the two clubs, with the result recorded as a 0-3 defeat for Levadiakos, and a fine of 8,000 euros. The committee also said it had annulled decision number 538/2026 of the EPO's Disciplinary Committee, which had originally ruled on the case.

Asteras Tripolis, nicknamed the Arcadians after the region of the Peloponnese where the club's home city of Tripoli is located, currently compete under the sponsored name Asteras AKTOR. The Superbet Greek Cup's League Phase brings together clubs from Greece's top flight in a round-robin format before the competition moves on to a knockout stage.

With the case now resolved, Asteras AKTOR's League Phase schedule runs as follows: Asteras AKTOR against Aris, Niki Volou against Asteras AKTOR, and Asteras AKTOR against Kifisia, before the League Phase closes with AEK against Asteras AKTOR.
