Greek winger Giorgos Masouras has left Olympiacos after seven years at the club, moving on to continue his career in Saudi Arabia with NEOM.
Masouras said farewell to the club and its fans with an emotional message, saying he had done everything he had ever dreamed of with his favorite team.
380 games and a European trophy
In his message, Masouras said he had played 380 games for Olympiacos and scored 57 goals, living through major European nights and winning league titles and cups. He said the most important achievement was fulfilling the dream of every Olympiacos fan, winning a European trophy with the club, which he called "the Legend."
He said he had lived that dream from childhood, through European nights, failures, disappointments and missed chances, as well as magical derby nights and big wins. He recalled watching in a faded shirt of the club as a child, and said every minute of magic from Giovanni, every finish from Rivaldo and every great goal from Galetti had shown him the way forward.
Gratitude for teammates and staff
Masouras said it was not easy, that he trained hard, cried and lost sleep through difficult times, but that every time he saw the red and white shirt with his name on the back hanging up, it gave him chills. He said that whenever he smelled the grass at the Karaiskakis Stadium and walked onto the pitch, he felt pride and gratitude, saying he was not just wearing a shirt but wearing a dream.
He said he had also gained a family during his time at the club, meeting teammates who became like brothers and selfless people who worked daily for the good of the team. He thanked the club president and all the staff individually for the journey, their support and trust, and said he had lived out the dream he had as a child.
