The Mexican National Lottery’s Sorteo Superior 2892 draw took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, with ticket number 59856 claiming the top prize of 17 million pesos. The draw was held at the Salon de Sorteos of the Edificio Moro of the Loteria Nacional starting at 8 p.m. local time.
The second prize of 1,440,000 pesos went to the holder of number 54544. Three tickets shared the third, fourth and fifth prizes of 275,000 pesos each: numbers 12272, 29144 and 12026.
How prizes are divided
The 17-million-peso top prize is split across two series of tickets. A player who held both series of the winning number could collect the full 17 million pesos, while a holder of one series could collect up to 8.5 million pesos. A holder of a single cachito, the smallest fraction, could collect up to 425,000 pesos from the top prize.
Each full ticket is divided into 20 cachitos. A cachito costs 40 pesos, a full series of 20 cachitos costs 800 pesos, and both series together cost 1,600 pesos. The lottery says that one in every five tickets wins some kind of prize or refund.
The draw offers a total of 12,896 prizes and refunds. Of those, 700 are direct prizes listed on the official prize sheets, and 12,196 are refunds. The refunds are paid to tickets whose last digit matches the last digit of either the top prize or the second prize.
How the lottery works
Each ticket carries a five-digit number, a series designation and a folio number. To win the top prize, a ticket must match that number exactly along with its corresponding series. Secondary prizes are also available through approximations, endings, refunds and partial combinations.
Two series of numbers running from 1 to 60,000 are issued for each draw, putting a total of 180,000 tickets on sale. Each of those tickets is further divided into 20 cachitos, meaning the overall odds of winning one of the larger prizes stand at 1 in 60,000, while the odds of winning any prize at all stand at 1 in 5.
Tickets can be purchased at authorised sales points, from street vendors, at official agencies or online through the Loteria Nacional website. A portion of the tickets for each draw is available exclusively through electronic channels.
The occasion the draw honoured
The Sorteo Superior 2892 was held to mark the 90th anniversary of the Escuela Normal Superior de Mexico, known by its initials ENSM. The institution is a higher education body under the Secretaria de Educacion Publica and operates as part of the Normal Education Subsystem, reporting to the Federal Education Authority in Mexico City through the Directorate General of Normal Education and Teacher Development.
The school’s coat of arms has been in use since July 1953. It incorporates an eagle, a feathered serpent representing wisdom, seven gems standing for philosophical and scientific disciplines, and a heraldic shield representing human values.
The 90th anniversary celebration was described by the lottery as an act of appreciation for an institution that has trained specialist teachers, particularly for secondary education, and whose graduates have gone on to work across Normal schools throughout the country.
