New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and Philadelphia Eagles outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt were involved in a heated verbal exchange on Wednesday during a joint practice session in Foxborough, Massachusetts, after a fight broke out between players.
The scrum erupted following a Patriots field goal attempt, when the special teams units from both NFL teams began fighting on the field.
Vrabel, a former NFL player who leads the New England coaching staff, stepped in to separate the fighting players, which resulted in the coach jawing with Hunt, according to Eagles writer Jeff Neiburg.

Reporters from media outlets covering both teams stated that no other scrums occurred during the practice, and it remains unclear what specific words were exchanged between Vrabel and Hunt.
Joint practices are traditional training camp sessions where opposing franchises gather to conduct combined workouts and scrimmage against each other ahead of the preseason schedule. The Patriots host their summer workouts at their team facility in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Spike in Training Camp Brawls

Although physical fights are a common occurrence during summer training camps as players compete for roster spots, the league has experienced a notable surge in altercations in recent days.
Just one day prior on Tuesday, a massive brawl disrupted a joint practice session between the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, causing the workout to devolve into chaos. During that fight, Saints wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner suplexed an opponent. Rechsteiner is the son of former WWE superstar Scott Steiner, a well known professional wrestler.

Tensions were also high elsewhere in the league on Wednesday, with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers experiencing tense moments during their combined session.
The recent scrums follow several inter-team and intra-team fights that have made headlines throughout the summer months.
Summer Altercations Across the League
Earlier this week, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and linebacker Nik Bonitto engaged in a heated moment during a team practice session.
Multiple fights also broke out at the Kansas City Chiefs training facility earlier in the month as players competed in summer practices.
Around that same time, Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby and veteran NFL quarterback Kirk Cousins were held out of practice after getting into a fight the previous day.

The Patriots are aiming for a tougher 2026 campaign after a successful run to Super Bowl LX in their previous season, where New England was defeated by the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL championship game.
