Brazilian star Neymar avoided answering questions about a possible retirement when his contract with Santos ends, but his father and agent, Neymar da Silva Santos, said flatly that the 34-year-old forward will keep playing football.
Neymar retired from Brazil's national team after the North America World Cup, but remains under contract with Santos, the club of his childhood, until December.
Asked about his future at a charity auction he organized in Sao Paulo, Neymar said that once his contract ends he will think about whether to stay at Santos, leave, or stop playing, adding that he honestly does not know what he will do.
He said he is taking things step by step, match by match, and that he is feeling good physically. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player has been hampered by a string of injuries in recent years.
Father's response
His father and agent said Neymar loves playing football and has no medical degree to fall back on, so he will keep playing.
Santos has reached the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana and is fighting to stay in Brazil's top football division.
