Olympiacos have brought Spanish executive Antonio Cordon back to Piraeus to take charge of transfer planning for both next season and the long term.
Cordon returns to the Greek club two to two and a half months after the official announcement of Antonio Miguel Cardoso, who was appointed as general director of football operations and international strategy.
The Spanish official has already started work at the club training complex in Rentis, holding key meetings in recent hours to assemble his transfer agenda. His primary recommendation for the team is an Argentine player who was previously targeted by rival Greek club Panathinaikos.
Transfer strategy in Piraeus
Olympiacos, traditionally known as the Red and Whites, are based in the port city of Piraeus within the Athens urban area. They are the most successful club in Greek football history, regularly competing in European tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. The club conducts its daily operations, team training, and executive planning at its complex located in Rentis.
Executive restructuring
Cordon rejoins Olympiacos after a period in Spain with La Liga outfit Sevilla. As a veteran sporting director and football executive, Cordon has previously managed recruitment strategies, player scouting, and squad building across major European and South American leagues. His appointment reunites him with Cardoso as Olympiacos revamp their management structure to coordinate domestic scouting with international player acquisition.
His reported transfer shortlist places Olympiacos in direct competition with traditional rivals Panathinaikos. Based in Athens, Panathinaikos share one of the most intense rivalries in Mediterranean football with Olympiacos, known as the Derby of the Eternal Enemies, with both clubs frequently competing for top domestic honors and regional scouting targets.
Cordon is now preparing his full list of transfer targets at Rentis as Olympiacos move forward with squad planning for the upcoming season and beyond.
