Panathinaikos' opening match of the 2026-27 Stoiximan Super League season against Kifisia has been officially postponed due to the club's upcoming UEFA Europa League playoff matches against Czech side Hradec.
The fixture was originally scheduled to take place at the OAKA Olympic Stadium in Athens on Sunday, August 23, 2026, but the Greek league granted an official postponement following a formal written request submitted by the club.

Panathinaikos exercised their right to request the schedule change to avoid fixture congestion while competing for a place in European competition against Hradec Králové.
Potential rescheduling dates for the match
The organizing authority will determine a new date for the fixture based on Panathinaikos' progress in European competition. If the club qualifies for the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League, the match is expected to be rescheduled for January 6.
If the Athens club does not qualify against Hradec, the first available Wednesday to play the postponed match will be October 14.
In an official statement issued on Friday, August 14, 2026, the Super League confirmed that the match between Panathinaikos and Kifisia for the first matchday of the championship was postponed following a written request from PAE Panathinaikos. The governing body added that the decision was made in application of the board of directors' ruling from July 15, 2026, and that the organizer would re-appoint the match at a later date.
