PAOK is in advanced discussions with Zenit Saint Petersburg to sign Slovenian central defender Vanja Drkusic. The Greek club is very close to completing the acquisition after talks entered their final stage.
The 26-year-old center-back has already agreed to terms with PAOK. He is currently waiting for the two clubs to finalize an agreement before traveling to Thessaloniki.
Transfer details and loan option
Based on information released so far, PAOK will acquire Drkusic on loan with an option to buy. The defender remains under contract with Zenit Saint Petersburg through 2029.
PAOK previously targeted Drkusic during the transfer window last January, but that potential move did not progress at the time. However, conditions surrounding the deal have now changed.
Although PAOK has already signed defenders Hatzidiakos and Elustondo, the club wants to add one more center-back to its roster. Everything indicates that Drkusic will be that additional defensive signing.
