PAOK Manager Alessio Lisi Hails Win Over Levadiakos

PAOK defeated Levadiakos 4-0 at Toumba Stadium on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the opening round of the Stoiximan Super League season. Italian head coach Alessio Lisi declared the convincing home victory the best gift for the club supporters following the final whistle in Thessaloniki.

Speaking to the NOVA television broadcast after the match, Lisi expressed satisfaction with his squad performance while remaining cautious about the heavy margin of victory. He said that winning four goals to zero felt somewhat exaggerated, noting that Levadiakos presented a good quality opponent and that PAOK still has significant work ahead during the campaign.

Lisi highlighted the contribution of players who had seen limited playing time prior to Sunday fixture. He said he was delighted for squad members who seized the opportunity to perform, adding that their hard work during training sessions earned them the chance to showcase their abilities on the pitch.

Preparation for European Competition

The PAOK manager quickly turned his focus to Thursday European commitment against Norwegian club Brann. Lisi said he expects a demanding match against a tough opponent in Norway, emphasizing that his players must deliver a major physical effort and demonstrate their true quality on the international stage.

Following the domestic opener, PAOK is preparing a formal appeal to UEFA regarding a disciplinary punishment handed to winger Andrija Zivkovic. Meanwhile, reports from Africafoot indicate that the Thessaloniki club has reached a verbal agreement to sign midfielder Kouassi Sibo to strengthen the squad.

Super League Opening Weekend

PAOK dominant win was part of a high-scoring opening weekend across the Greek top flight. AEK matched PAOK four-goal margin in their opening fixture, while Panetolikos earned a 3-1 home victory over Asteras Tripolis in Agrinio. OFI secured a 2-0 win against Volos courtesy of a penalty from Nous and an own goal by Siampanis, while Olympiacos and Aris also opened their domestic campaigns with victories.

PAOK is one of the most prominent football clubs in Greece, playing its home matches at Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki. The Stoiximan Super League represents the highest level of professional football in the country, with top teams competing for domestic honors and qualification for European tournaments hosted by UEFA.
