Greek lawyer and parliamentary candidate Kelly Stamouli praised PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis in unusual terms during a television interview on ONE Channel.
Speaking on the show Edo with journalist Stamatis Zacharos, Stamouli departed from strict political analysis to share her perspective on the party president. She strongly rejected assertions that Androulakis lacked a sense of humor or was surly, describing him instead as sweet like condensed milk and adding that he was very tender.
Her unexpected remarks visibly surprised the host and quickly spread across social media following the broadcast. When Zacharos asked whether Androulakis was surly or had a sense of humor, Stamouli maintained that he was not moody at all. She explained her comparison by noting that condensed milk was popular with children, adding that she meant the party leader was very affectionate.
Response to critics and singing comments
Addressing comments from the journalist that critics often accuse Androulakis of being constantly surly and lacking humor, the parliamentary candidate came to his defense. Stamouli argued that the party leader must respond to a vast number of daily demands and stimuli, making it difficult to balance everything at once.
The exchange took another surprising turn when Stamouli turned the conversation toward the politician's singing abilities. She told Zacharos that Androulakis had a very good voice with a distinct romantic huskiness when he sang. The host responded with astonishment, asking whether the political leader was a romantic singer.
Political background of PASOK in Athens
Stamouli is a practising lawyer and a candidate standing for PASOK in the Athens A electoral district. Athens A is a key parliamentary constituency covering the central municipality of Athens. PASOK, officially the Panhellenic Socialist Movement, is one of Greece's major political parties on the center left.
Greek media frequently refer to the party as Harilaou Trikoupi, after the central street in Athens where its national headquarters are located. Androulakis leads the party as it prepares its slate of candidates for national parliamentary elections.
