Pavel Polekh has become the youngest goalscorer in the history of Spartak Moscow after scoring in a 5-1 Russian Cup win over Orenburg. A report by Lenta.ru correspondent Vladislav Utkin confirmed the 16-year-old footballer set the new club benchmark during the group stage match.
Polekh scored his goal at the age of 16 years, eight months, and three days. He broke the previous record held by Jano Ananidze, who scored his first goal for the red-and-whites when he was 16 years, nine months, and five days old.
Group A standings
The 5-1 victory places Spartak at the top of Group A in the Fonbet Russian Cup after the first round of the group stage. Rodina also earned three points in their opening match to share the top spot with Spartak, while Orenburg and Rubin have zero points.
