More than 500,000 teachers and school administrators from public and private educational institutions across Peru will be able to enter the XIV National Contest of Good Teaching Practices 2026, called by the Ministry of Education (Minedu). The contest runs from September to December.
The competition seeks to recognize pedagogical experiences and school management practices that have produced favorable results in student learning and in how schools function, according to Minedu.
Minedu is Peru's national education authority, responsible for setting policy for the country's public and private schools. The Good Teaching Practices contest, now in its fourteenth edition, is one of the ministry's recurring efforts to reward classroom and school initiatives that show measurable results.
Categories and eligibility
The call is open to education professionals across the country and allows entries to be submitted individually or as a group. In group submissions, up to five teachers from the same educational institution may take part. One of the main requirements is that the practice being submitted must already be in execution at the time of registration.
The contest includes six categories in total. Five focus on pedagogical experiences developed by teachers, while one corresponds to school management practices led by educational institutions. The goal is to identify initiatives that could serve as models for other schools.
Winning proposals and recognition
Winning proposals will be shared through the National Observatory of Good Practices and Educational Innovation. Minedu said the aim is to give visibility to experiences that can be recognized and replicated in other settings, while also publicly acknowledging the teachers and administrators leading these initiatives within their school communities.
Registration deadlines and evaluation phases
The contest will run in three phases: registration, regional evaluation and national evaluation. To take part, applicants must first complete preliminary registration of their practice by October 7. They will then have until October 22 to submit the evidence supporting the experience they presented.

The call forms part of broader efforts to strengthen teacher performance and improve the quality of educational services by identifying practices already being applied in classrooms and in school management across the country.
