Polish volleyball players Martyna Czyrniańska and Julia Szczurowska scored a combined 52 points to guide Kuzeyboru SK to a five-set victory against Manisa BB in the Turkish Cup on Tuesday.
Kuzeyboru secured the win 3:2 with set scores of 25:18, 28:30, 25:14, 21:25, and 15:12 in a closely fought Group III contest.
Czyrniańska, a 23-year-old outside hitter, led the scoring for Kuzeyboru with 27 points, including three points from blocks. She recorded an attack efficiency of 42 percent alongside a 30 percent positive reception rate during her dominant performance.
Szczurowska contributed 25 points, finishing as the second highest scorer for the winning side. The attacker delivered four service aces to finish just two points behind her fellow countrywoman, with the Polish pair acting as the primary architects of Kuzeyboru's cup success.
Tugba Ivegin Senoglu added 12 points for Kuzeyboru to support the team's offensive effort.
Performance in Turkish volleyball
Aleksandra Rasińska stood out for defeated Manisa BB by scoring 18 points with a 36 percent attack efficiency. The 28-year-old attacker joined Manisa BB at the start of 2026 and quickly established herself as the team leader, playing a key role in helping the club earn promotion to Turkey's top volleyball league.
Rasińska previously played as an attacker for Polish clubs including Developres Rzeszów and MKS Kalisz before moving to Turkish volleyball.
The Turkish Cup is one of the country's main volleyball knockout competitions, bringing together top professional clubs. Outside hitters and opposite attackers are central to a team's offensive output, with five-set matches decided by a final tie-break set to 15 points.
Smarzek debut and group standings
Polish presence was also felt elsewhere in the Turkish Cup on Tuesday as 30-year-old Malwina Smarzek delivered a standout performance in her debut for Ilbank Ankara. Smarzek scored 33 points to lead Ilbank to a 3:2 victory over Aras Kargo, winning with set scores of 25:20, 23:25, 25:18, 27:29, and 15:13. Ilbank Ankara is based in Turkey's capital city.
Following the victory, Kuzeyboru SK holds two points in the standings and retains a theoretical chance of advancing to the quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup. Manisa BB faces a tougher path to qualification, having earned just one point from their two Group III matches.
