A ram named Rambo became trapped inside a concrete pipe on a farm in Somerset, England, after fleeing from nine ewes competing for his attention, according to his owner.
Firefighters used chimney rods and ropes to free the 97kg ram, who was rescued unharmed on Sunday.
Bex Maynard, who owns Western Farm in Somerset, said Rambo had been forced to flee into the pipe after being chased by the flock of ewes, all "competing for his undivided attention." She joked that he had been taking a "well-earned break from his romantic duties" when he became trapped.
"To be fair, there are nine rather amorous ewes all competing for his undivided attention and a chap is entitled to a little peace and quiet occasionally," she said.
How firefighters freed the ram
Crews worked meticulously to free Rambo, eventually managing to slip a sheet beneath his bulk to wiggle him out of the pipe.
Despite the time and effort spent on the rescue, Maynard said Rambo did not appear the least bit troubled by his ordeal. She told The Sun: "Judging by Rambo's expression, he emerged considerably less concerned by the whole episode than everyone else involved."
"We cannot thank the crews enough for coming out, taking such care of the daft bugger and getting him safely out," she added.
Farm sits in Somerset's rural heartland
Western Farm lies in Somerset, a largely rural county in South West England known for its farmland and livestock, where flocks of ewes are commonly kept alongside a ram during breeding periods.
Fundraiser launched for rescue crews
To thank the emergency crews for the rescue, Maynard has since set up a JustGiving page to raise money for two charities, the Fire Fighters Charity and the Farmers Charity. She is aiming to raise £1,000 for each of the two organisations.
