A domestic employee of Russian rapper Dzhigan was shot twice by the musician during a violent confrontation at his home in the Chateau Sovereign compound, according to reports published on Wednesday, September 23.
The victim, a citizen of Tajikistan named Shorukh who had worked at the estate for several years, survived the gunfire but decided against filing a police report before fleeing the country.
Details of the shooting emerged on Wednesday after the employee confirmed the incident to Bloody Lady, a prominent Russian news channel on the Telegram messaging service. The worker stated that he had been hit by two bullets fired by the homeowner during an altercation at the suburban property in July.
Background on the musician and estate
Dzhigan, whose real name is Denis Ustimenko-Vainshtein, is a prominent hip-hop artist and recording personality in Russia. His residence in Chateau Sovereign is situated within an exclusive gated residential community in the Moscow region, an area known for housing high-profile celebrities and wealthy public figures who employ private domestic personnel.
The employee, Shorukh, is a national of Tajikistan, a landlocked country in Central Asia. Millions of Tajik citizens work abroad in Russia, frequently taking up employment in construction, maintenance, and private household care.
Hostage incident and armed patrol
The shooting took place in July after Dzhigan returned to Russia from a trip to Israel. According to sources familiar with the matter, the artist was in an unstable state of mind and became convinced that he was being followed by unknown individuals.
Arming himself with a Saiga-9 carbine, a Russian semi-automatic firearm chambered in nine-millimetre ammunition and manufactured for civilian sport and personal defence, the rapper instructed Shorukh to accompany him on a security patrol around the perimeter of the estate.
During the security check, Dzhigan suddenly turned on his employee and accused him of child rape. The artist then locked Shorukh inside a hallway and threatened him with execution.
Interrogation and escape
Holding his household staff hostage inside the country house, the musician carried out an aggressive interrogation of the workers over allegations of pedophilia. Gunfire subsequently broke out in the corridor, leaving Shorukh struck by two rounds fired from the carbine.
Following the shooting, Dzhigan returned to the main area of the house and stated to others on the property that he had killed the worker. However, Shorukh survived the attack, chose not to file a formal complaint with law enforcement agencies, and promptly left Russia.
