Rena Dourou, president of the parliamentary group of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, said the goal is a unifying electoral ticket bringing together those willing and able to join, on an equal footing, through policy convergence. She said the party has already begun working toward this.
Dourou said the key in politics is making sure citizens do not become disillusioned, since they are the ones the party represents, judges it and ultimately chooses at the ballot box.
Progressive government plans
Dourou said it is a clear strategic choice for SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance to take part on equal terms, based on policy convergence, in progressive government coalitions, calling it the only way for the country to turn the page. She said the party is united and determined to represent its people against a rising tide from the right and far right, and that it will contest the elections renewed, aiming for progressive governance with clear priorities: rebuilding, renewal and grounding in society.
Response to rumors about PASOK
Asked why someone would vote for SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance rather than PASOK, the Communist Party, MeRA25 or NEAR, Dourou said the focus on PASOK stems from rumor rather than politics, rejecting claims that differences between the two parties are personal rather than political. She said SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance and PASOK are two distinct parties with different ideological bases representing different social classes.
