British singer Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a planned coronary artery stent procedure and will take four weeks off from his tour to recover.
According to a statement published on his official account, doctors are satisfied with his progress, and Stewart is doing very well while already returning to his usual daily activities.
Following the recommendation of his medical team, the performer will spend the next four weeks resting and fully restoring his physical fitness before returning to the stage. Consequently, he will be unable to continue his current scheduled tour dates, with organizers and venues set to announce details regarding the affected concerts.
In a personal statement following the operation, Stewart said that he already feels better and is recovering very well. He expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and all the medical staff who took exceptional care of him, adding that he was deeply disappointed to miss the shows and apologized for letting his fans down, but looked forward to returning to the stage very soon.
Recent Concert Postponement
The update on his health comes two days after the musician was forced to postpone a concert in Cincinnati at the last minute. At the time, his representative stated that the postponement was due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure requiring immediate attention, adding that Stewart was expected to make a rapid recovery.
A coronary artery stent procedure involves inserting a small mesh tube into a narrowed heart artery to clear blockages and restore healthy blood flow. The routine surgical procedure helps treat coronary heart disease and prevent future cardiac complications.
Tour History and Health Challenges
Stewart has been traveling across the world since March as part of his One Last Time tour. However, the current health issue follows previous performance disruptions in June, when he was forced to cancel and postpone several shows after being diagnosed with an acute respiratory infection, laryngitis, and severe vocal cord strain.
Despite these recurring health setbacks, Stewart has made it clear that he has no intention of retiring from performing. The veteran rock vocalist, known for his decades-long music career and signature raspy voice, remains committed to finishing his tour schedule once his four-week recovery period concludes.
