Peruvian media personality Sheyla Rojas and regional political candidate Joaquín Ramírez have offered conflicting accounts of how their romantic relationship began after television cameras caught them together in the northern province of San Ignacio, Cajamarca.
Reporters from the entertainment news show Magaly TV, La Firme filmed the former television host while she was accompanying Ramírez during his campaign activities for the Cajamarca Renace political movement. After being captured by the camera crew, both figures spoke to journalists to share details about their romance and how they first met.
Contrasting accounts of their first dates
Rojas, a former contestant on the reality television show Combate, said that a mutual acquaintance introduced the couple and acted as the connection between them. She stated that their initial outings took place in Lima and described their early interaction as casual, maintaining that their first public sighting, or ampay, occurred during their fourth date.
Ramírez, a former member of Congress who has faced investigation for money laundering, provided a different version of events during the broadcast. He stated that their very first encounter took place at a coffee shop and claimed that their first public appearance in front of cameras happened on their second or third meeting, adding that they both know they will be together permanently.
Rojas built her television career in Peru after appearing as a contestant on prime-time competitive reality programs such as Combate and Esto es Guerra before transitioning into work as a television host. Her personal life is frequently monitored by Peruvian entertainment programs like Magaly TV, La Firme, which specialize in broadcast recordings of public figures in unexpected settings.
