Peruvian television presenter Silvia Cornejo has ended her relationship with businessman Jean Paul Gabuteau after discovering he secretly met his ex-partner while Cornejo was pregnant.
Cornejo announced the breakup during a television appearance on Magaly TV, la firme, revealing that Gabuteau had lied about going out with friends before being filmed kissing Analia Jimenez.
The broadcast video captured Gabuteau kissing Jimenez, with whom he shares a child. The encounter occurred while Cornejo was expecting her second child, ending a relationship of more than ten years of cohabitation and coming just three months before the couple's second wedding anniversary.
According to Cornejo, Gabuteau gave her a detailed excuse on the Saturday before the footage emerged. She said Gabuteau told her he was going out with a group of friends and named the specific companions he planned to meet.
False Excuses and Hidden Encounters
Cornejo said that only hours after secretly meeting Jimenez, Gabuteau joined her to spend time with friends. She recalled that they enjoyed themselves together that Saturday as if nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.
Gabuteau did not mention seeing Jimenez at any point during the weekend. Cornejo stated that he had opportunities on both Saturday and Sunday to tell her about the meeting but chose to remain silent, reinforcing her feeling of deception and emotional distance.
Reflecting on the broadcast video, Cornejo expressed astonishment at her former partner's ability to maintain a normal demeanor at home. She remarked that a person would have to be cold-hearted to pretend that everything was fine after concealing such an encounter.
Breakup After a Decade Together
The public revelation was not the first time Gabuteau and Jimenez had been spotted together during his relationship with Cornejo. However, Cornejo said the combination of the lie and her pregnancy made the breach of trust definitive.
The footage of the secret meeting was exposed in an exclusive report by television journalist Magaly Medina. Cornejo's decision to break her silence on Medina's program marked the end of her long-standing relationship with the businessman.
