SpaceX reports $541 million net loss in second quarter

SpaceX recorded a net loss of $541 million for the second quarter of 2026, ending June 30, in its first earnings report since its initial public offering in June. Adjusted results showed a loss of $0.09 per share, a smaller loss than the $0.23 loss per share expected by analysts compiled by FactSet.

Revenue for the company jumped 92 percent during the period to $7.8 billion, beating the $6.8 billion estimate gathered by FactSet from analysts. Capital expenditures reached $18.4 billion in the quarter.

Segment performance and stock response

The satellite internet service Starlink, which forms the connectivity segment of Elon Musk's company, was its only profitable division. Starlink recorded 12 million subscribers in the second half of this year and generated a profit of $1.66 billion.

By contrast, the Space and Artificial Intelligence sectors registered losses of $542 million and $1.25 billion, respectively. Following the report, SpaceX shares dropped 4.7 percent in New York after-hours trading at 5:35 p.m. Brasilia time.
