Spice Girls Spark Reunion Rumours With Cryptic Video

The British pop group Spice Girls have fueled reunion speculation after publishing a cryptic social media video featuring a classified advertisement seeking fans who can sing and dance. The video was published on the band's official Instagram account on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

The teaser shows a print advertisement placed in the trade newspaper The Stage, resting on the stairwell used in the 1996 music video for their debut hit single Wannabe. The Stage is the same publication in which an audition notice was originally published in 1994 to search for members for an all-female group.

Details of the classified notice

The classified advertisement asks whether the reader is a Spice Girls fan with the ability to sing and dance, or if they are a super fan, collector, or music lover. It describes the Spice Girls as a wildly successful, global female pop group that choreographs, dances, and sings, boasting a record nine number-one singles in the United Kingdom and over 100 million sales worldwide.

The notice directs readers to Thursday, September 10, at 2 p.m., noting that no sheet music is required for participants. However, it adds that a vinyl or CD player will be needed.

Reunion speculation and group history

The group has not released further details regarding the advertisement, leaving open whether the announcement concerns a future project or plans for a reunion. British publication the Daily Mail reported on September 9, 2026, that the band had posted a cryptic video full of clues following months of reunion rumours, sending fans into a frenzy.

The British pop group was formed in 1994 by Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Geri Halliwell. Known individually by their nicknames Posh Spice, Scary Spice, Baby Spice, Sporty Spice, and Ginger Spice, the group achieved global fame with hit singles including Wannabe, Spice Up Your Life, and Viva Forever.

The band announced its split in 2000, though the five members have reunited on several occasions in the years since.

Recent band milestones

The cryptic teaser comes amid recent individual and band milestones for the pop stars. On July 8, 2026, Victoria Beckham commented on the 30th anniversary of Wannabe, stating that the song changed their lives forever.

Later that month, on July 20, 2026, Melanie Chisholm got married while wearing a bridal gown designed by her bandmate Victoria Beckham.
