Stefan Kung of Switzerland won the 2026 Tour de Pologne after taking the decisive stage 7 individual time trial on August 9, 2026, which had both its start and finish at the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Riding for Tudor, Kung covered the 12.5-kilometer course in 14 minutes 25 seconds, giving his team a double of stage and overall victory.
Kung, who not long ago suffered a serious injury, a broken femur, said he now feels great in time trials.
Final overall podium
Fischer-Black, a Finnish rider, finished second on the stage and second overall. Ivan Romeo took third overall, while Callum Thornley was third on the stage. Before the final stage, Italy's Christian Scaroni of XDS Astana led the general classification, with 12 riders within 40 seconds of him. France's Louis Barre of Visma-Lease a Bike, winner of stage 6, and his teammate Bart Lemmen, regarded as a strong time-trial specialist, were also among the contenders, along with Germany's Marco Brenner of Tudor, who stood fourth overall before the stage and placed seventh on it in 14:37.
Battle for the stage win
Luxembourg's Arthur Kluckers of Tudor held the provisional lead for a long time with 14:35, a result Polish broadcaster TVP Sport's commentators said seemed to surprise even him. Britain's Ethan Hayter of Soudal Quick-Step was second at that point in 14:39, ahead of American Artem Shmidt. Thornley, the 63rd rider to start, then took over with 14:29. Michal Kwiatkowski, Poland's national time-trial champion, crossed the line 32 seconds behind Thornley to loud applause from fans, before Kung ultimately posted the fastest time.
Polish riders
Kwiatkowski was the top Polish finisher on the stage, in 31st place. Filip Gruszczynski, Poland's best-placed rider overall and 23rd in the general classification before the final stage, lost one minute and 17 seconds to the leader and ended up 25th overall.
It was the second year in a row that a time trial at the Wieliczka Salt Mine decided the Tour de Pologne winner. Last year, American Brandon McNulty of UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the 82nd edition of the race.
