Emotional scenes unfolded at the port as a ship departed carrying the body of Vidalis, according to a report by cyclades24.gr. Vessels docked in the harbor paid tribute by sounding their horns in a traditional naval farewell to honor a seafarer who served at sea for decades.

Discovery of Chief Mate

Vidalis was previously found dead inside his cabin aboard the Superferry passenger and vehicle vessel. News of his death brought grief to the coastal shipping community, where he maintained a long presence at sea alongside close ties to colleagues and ship crews.
