Technology company Syncere has unveiled Lume, a robotic floor lamp designed to handle household chores including folding laundry, tidying rooms, making beds, and loading and unloading dishwashers. The device can also fetch items when asked by its owner.
Lume is priced at $2,700 for a single unit, while a set of two costs $5,199. Syncere plans to begin deliveries in the first quarter of 2027, starting with customers in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area.
How Lume Works
When it is not busy with chores, Lume folds down to a compact size and functions as a standard lamp. It offers a separate directed light for reading as well as a general room-lighting mode.
The robot is also built to recognise people and objects in its surroundings and will stop moving if something obstructs its path.
Personalization Band
Owners can tailor Lume's behaviour to their own needs using a device Syncere calls the Personalization Band, a wearable bracelet that lets a person demonstrate tasks to the robot, such as the specific way they want their clothes folded.
Syncere said it plans to add new tasks to Lume over time through software updates.
Subscription and Pricing
Accessing new functions will require either a monthly subscription of $79 or a one-time payment of $679, according to the company.
Syncere has not disclosed further details on which capabilities will be included under the subscription model versus the one-time fee.
Wider Robotics Push
The Lume announcement comes amid a broader wave of consumer and humanoid robotics unveilings. Chinese company Unitree recently presented the G1+, an upgraded version of its humanoid robot, the G1, while XPENG's humanoid robot, IRON, made its debut at the IFA 2026 technology trade show in Berlin, one of the world's largest consumer electronics events.
Syncere has not provided additional detail on Lume's availability beyond its initial two US markets or on when the device might reach customers elsewhere.
