Iulia Tsetis, president and chief executive of the Tsetis Pharmaceutical Business Group (OFET), donated two defibrillators to the Mykonos Port Authority through the Kleon Tsetis Foundation, a non-profit organisation.
The donation was made on Monday, August 3, 2026, in the presence of the Mykonos harbour master, Nikolaos Zygouris.
Passenger Numbers at Mykonos Ports
More than 2.1 million ferry and cruise passengers pass through the island's ports each year, using both the new port at Tourlos and the old port in Mykonos town.
In brief remarks, Tsetis said all travellers moving to and from the island needed to feel safe, and that the donation reflected exactly that sense of security for public health. Addressing port staff directly, she said she understood the social difficulties of the times and the daily effort of port workers, who she said supported travellers and the safety of the island, an international tourist destination, with altruism and a sense of responsibility. She added that, through the Kleon Tsetis Foundation, she would continue to support areas in need, vulnerable populations and public health.
Previous Defibrillator Donation to Athens University
The Mykonos donation follows a larger gift of 106 defibrillators that Tsetis announced on June 10, 2026, to all schools of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). Tsetis holds an honorary doctorate in Pharmacy from EKPA and the University of Patras. That donation was made in memory of Ioanna Andreadou, a professor of pharmacology in EKPA's Department of Pharmacy.
The 106 automated external defibrillators, along with an equal number of first-aid kits, have already been installed at EKPA schools in Attica and Evia, strengthening safety for students, academic staff and visitors.
About the Kleon Tsetis Foundation
The Kleon Tsetis Non-Profit Civil Company for Scientific Research and Culture was established in November 2017 in memory of Kleon Tsetis by his daughters, Iulia and Eirini Tsetis, drawing on the principles and values he instilled in the Group from its earliest days.
The foundation's main activities include supporting young scientists and helping to curb brain drain through scholarships for students and researchers, strengthening universities and research institutions, and building bridges between industry and academia.
