Peruvian businessman and show business figure Víctor Angobaldo died on Tuesday following a traffic accident on the Panamericana Sur highway near Cañete.
According to preliminary information reported by local news outlet Buenos Días Cañete, the vehicle carrying Angobaldo and several other passengers was involved in the crash. Emergency services intervened at the scene, but Angobaldo arrived without life at the Hospital Regional Rezola. The remaining occupants of the automobile were transferred to the same health facility, where they remain under medical observation.
Following news of his death, his former partner, model Shirley Cherres, published a farewell message accompanied by a photo of the pair on social media. Cherres wrote that she could not believe he had left them and stated that her heart was broken into a thousand pieces. She described Angobaldo as her boss, friend, partner, and boyfriend, expressing gratitude for his affection, noble nature, and shared moments, while declaring that he would always live in her heart and that she would miss him greatly.
Health complications and media career
In recent years, Angobaldo faced ongoing medical issues. He had been seeking a kidney donor since 2024, and in February 2026 required urgent blood donors following a medical emergency.
Angobaldo first gained public prominence in 2009 through appearances on the television program Magaly TV. Presenters Magaly Medina and Ney Guerrero introduced him after meeting him at the San Jorge prison during a judicial process. His spontaneous personality subsequently made him a frequent figure in Peruvian entertainment news.
His profile increased after he began a public romance with Cherres, which included proposing marriage to her on live broadcast two weeks after they met following a televised ampay segment. In later years, he remained a recurring television figure, engaging in a public dispute with producer Efraín Aguilar outside the Canout theater, a confrontation with Fernando Roca, known as Zopilote, and an exchange with comedian Melcochita.
