Russian streaming platform VK Video has launched a Smart Episode Breakdown tool powered by artificial intelligence to automatically divide long videos into chapters.
The automated feature generates chapter titles and exact timestamps for creators uploading or editing long-form video content on the site.
According to a press release provided to Russian news outlet Lenta.ru, creators can activate the tool within the description section during video upload or editing.
The artificial intelligence algorithm analyzes the video content, identifies logical transitions between topics, and outlines a structured list of episodes with timestamps and titles.
The platform said the automated tool eliminates the need for creators to manually scan through recordings for topic changes or type out timestamps by hand.

Research cited in the press release shows that viewers spend more time watching videos that feature episode breakdowns and return to them more often.
Platform data also indicates that users navigate to specific fragments of a video faster and are less likely to stop watching early when chapters are present.
