Linebacker Von Miller has teased a potential return to the Buffalo Bills almost 18 months after being released by the team. The 37-year-old two-time Super Bowl winner is out of contract after spending a season with the Washington Commanders.

Miller dropped the hint in a series of posts on his Instagram story. He shared a photo of himself and quarterback Josh Allen, before adding a separate picture of himself wearing a Bills hat and jersey with the caption "Unfinished business." If he finds a new team this season, Miller will be embarking on his 15th year in the NFL.

Stint in Washington and Buffalo

During his time with Washington, Miller recorded nine sacks after playing in all 17 games for the Commanders, who went 5-12 and missed out on the postseason as a result. That followed a turbulent three-year stint in Buffalo for the former Texas A&M star.

Miller had eight sacks in 12 games in the 2022 season before his form plummeted the following year, when he recorded just three total tackles and no sacks in 12 appearances. In 2024, the season in which he was handed a four-game NFL suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, he registered 17 tackles and six sacks in 13 games.

The suspension came almost a year after authorities issued an arrest warrant for him amid accusations he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. Miller was previously on a huge six-year, $120 million contract in Buffalo that was frequently restructured by the team, before it eventually contributed to the Bills being in one of the worst salary cap situations in the NFL prior to his release in March 2025.

Role in Buffalo's 2026 season

The future Hall of Famer has the most career sacks of any active NFL player with 138.5. With 2024 MVP Allen as quarterback, the Bills will again be one of the leading contenders to win the Super Bowl in the 2026 season.

If he does return, Miller would most likely fill a depth role for new head coach Joe Brady, who replaced Sean McDermott after his firing in January.
