Warbirds of Ukraine Unveils TRX Drone With 450km Range

Ukrainian defense company Warbirds of Ukraine has introduced the TRX, a new operational drone capable of flying up to 450 kilometers on reconnaissance and strike missions.

The announcement was reported by Defender Media, highlighting the unmanned aerial vehicle's extended range and multi-role operational capabilities.

The TRX can remain airborne for more than 200 minutes and operates at altitudes ranging between 50 and 500 meters. It achieves a cruising speed of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

According to the technical specifications, the aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 46 kilograms and carries a payload of between 7 and 12 kilograms.

Technical capabilities and guidance

Operators can control the drone using satellite links or digital radio communication channels. For optics, the platform is equipped with both daytime optical sensors and thermal imaging cameras.

The TRX also features an automatic target acquisition system, which allows operators to launch and execute flight missions without requiring continuous manual guidance.

Operational deployment and military status

The drone is currently undergoing official codification in Ukraine, a formal procurement procedure required before hardware can be officially adopted and purchased for state military forces.

Despite remaining in the codification stage, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are already using the TRX in field operations as a signal repeater. The start of combat operations for the strike version is expected in the near future.

Airborne signal repeaters are used in military operations to retransmit data and communication signals, extending the range of front-line units and allowing other drones to operate effectively behind obstacles or across extended distances.

Domestic defense technology growth

The unveiling of the TRX comes amid rapid growth in Ukraine's domestic defense technology sector, where local manufacturers are producing a range of unmanned aerial vehicles for front-line use.

In related sector developments, Ukrainian investors recently provided more than 500 million hryvnias in a single day to expand drone production at Vyriy Industries. Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities have officially codified the TAF Kolibri-i10 interceptor drone, which reaches speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour.
