A 30-year-old woman is in Chalkida General Hospital after falling into the sea from the high bridge of Chalkida on Thursday afternoon.
The Central Port Authority of Chalkida launched a search operation after receiving notification of the incident from the Euboea Police Directorate. Personnel from the Coast Guard, the Police, and the Fire Service immediately mobilized to the scene, while the commercial vessel Antigoni also joined the search.
Rescue operation and investigation
Rescuers located the woman at a rocky spot and pulled her to safety while she was conscious. An EKAB ambulance crew then received the 30-year-old woman and transported her to the hospital, where she remains admitted for treatment.
The Central Port Authority of Chalkida is conducting a preliminary investigation into the circumstances of the fall.
