The performance earned Petrov his first world championship medal in the C1 1000-metre discipline. In canoe sprint racing, C1 paddlers kneel on one knee inside an open deck boat and use a single-bladed paddle to propel and steer the vessel over flat water.

The Russian team also claimed a silver medal in the men's C4 500-metre final in Poznan. The four-man boat featured Alexey Korovashkov, Aleksandr Bots, Dmitry Sharov and Matvei Arsenov, who crossed the finish line in 1 minute 30.69 seconds.
Hungary won the gold medal in the C4 500-metre race with a time of 1 minute 29.44 seconds. Spain took the bronze medal after finishing in 1 minute 30.97 seconds.
The four-man canoe discipline requires four paddlers to operate in perfect harmony inside a shared hull. Over the 500-metre distance, crews execute rapid stroke rates from the starting blocks, balancing raw power with collective rhythm to keep the boat stable at high speeds.
Korovashkov brings extensive international experience to the crew, having achieved success at top-level international regattas throughout his career. His teammates Bots, Sharov and Arsenov combined with him to secure Russia's second podium finish of the championships.

The world championships took place in the western Polish city of Poznan from August 26 to August 30. Poznan's Lake Malta venue is a renowned international water sports facility featuring a 2,000-metre regatta course with grandstands and modern lane technology.
