Peruvian cumbia singer Anely Dávila, a member of La Bella Luz, has drawn criticism after being filmed taking selfies inside a police station during an investigation on August 11.

Dávila and her fellow musicians arrived at the Department of Criminal Investigation (Depincri) in San Juan de Lurigancho to provide statements regarding a complaint filed by former bandmate Naldy Saldaña against César Sánchez for harassment and improper touching.

Accompanied by their mothers, the singers appeared visibly nervous upon entering police headquarters. They avoided commenting to reporters who asked whether they supported the case, which escalated after incriminating chat messages involving several band members were uncovered during police inquiries.

Selfie Video Broadcast on Morning Television

Footage broadcast by the television program América Hoy captured Dávila standing near a window inside the police facility and posing for a selfie with her mother while other band members were giving their statements.

A reporter covering the proceedings for the broadcast noted that Dávila took selfies with her mother while other singers were speaking to investigators.

The singer's behavior drew strong criticism due to the serious nature of the allegations against Sánchez and the weight of the testimony being provided. The incident occurred despite Dávila having publicly stated her support for Saldaña during what she described as challenging times shortly before entering the station.

Depincri operates as the criminal investigation branch of the National Police of Peru, conducting inquiries into major offenses across districts such as San Juan de Lurigancho. La Bella Luz is a well known group within Peruvian cumbia music, and their ongoing legal proceedings have attracted widespread media coverage.

Previous Concert Controversy and Public Apology

This was not the first time Dávila faced backlash regarding her conduct during the investigation into Sánchez. At a recent return concert by La Bella Luz, Dávila and bandmate Fernanda Urbina became the focus of controversy following an incident on stage.

Television host Magaly Medina publicly criticized both singers after they performed gestures on stage simulating the incidents reported by Saldaña. Dávila and Urbina later issued a joint statement to clarify the context of their actions and acknowledged the inappropriate timing of the performance.
