Actor Antonio Banderas said the heart attack he suffered in 2017 was the best event of his life, speaking in an interview with People magazine. The star of The Mask of Zorro and Desperado explained that the health emergency felt as though someone had placed glasses on him to see a reality he had never seen before.

Banderas said he realized how foolish it was to waste time on things that did not deserve a space in his life. Following the experience, he quit smoking and moved back to his hometown of Malaga, where he is actively developing the city's theater scene.

He added that while he enjoyed wonderful and exciting years in Los Angeles, he knew his place was in Malaga rather than Malibu.
The 63-year-old actor previously raised concern among online fans over his appearance in photographs from the Talia Awards ceremony in Madrid, which he attended alongside his girlfriend.
