Russian blogger and translator Dmitry Puchkov, known by the nickname Goblin, criticized a joke posted by the official Instagram account of the Ukrainian travel show Orel i Reshka (Eagle and Tails) about Russia. He made the comments on Sputnik radio, with a recording posted to the VKontakte social network.
The joke appeared on the show's Instagram account, which is owned by Meta, a company classified as extremist and banned in Russia. The post proposed a new format for a Russia-focused episode in which one host would carry a regular bank card holding $100, while the other would have unlimited funds, but on a Russian card blocked everywhere.
Puchkov's response
Puchkov said that was a fitting picture of Europe, where people travel with only $100 to clean toilets. He said a truer and genuinely funnier joke would show a Russian arriving at a hotel in Europe while others there clean the toilets.
Puchkov added that Ukraine is home to many talented, creative people, but said that because of the confrontation with Russia, no major productions would be filmed there for a long time.
Earlier remarks on corruption
Puchkov had previously said claims about Ukrainian corruption were overstated, saying that money the European Union allocates to Kyiv is also stolen by Europeans.
