South Korean group BTS will be honored with up to two night-time drone shows along the Costa Verde in Lima during their visit to Peru for three concerts this week.
The displays are scheduled for the evening of Thursday, October 8, which serves as a rest day for the band between their performances on October 7, 9, and 10 at the Estadio de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. More than 50,000 spectators are expected to attend each of the three show dates.
BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed in Seoul. The group commands a massive global fanbase known collectively as ARMY, with active local chapters across South America supporting their world tour engagements.
The first drone spectacle is confirmed to begin at 20:00 local time (1:00 GMT) as a tribute to the band. The event was organized after BTS Peru, one of the group's local fan organizations, collected more than 25,000 signatures and likes on the Fanista platform page.
The tribute performance is funded by Fanista. Organizers initially planned to deploy 80 drones for the display, but expanded the show to feature 150 drones after surpassing 30,000 likes on social media platforms.
The Costa Verde is a major coastal highway and beach strip running along the cliffs of Lima facing the Pacific Ocean, making it a popular spot for large public outdoor events in the Peruvian capital. The concert venue, the Estadio de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, is the largest stadium facility of Peru's oldest public university.

Birthday tribute display
A second drone performance on the same night remains subject to final confirmation for midnight on Thursday, October 8. This display is proposed as a dedicated tribute to band member Jim-in Park ahead of his upcoming birthday on October 13.
To fund the midnight tribute, the fan group PJ Musas is running a collection requesting donations. The fundraising effort serves as their primary initiative for what fans refer to as Jimtober, a month-long celebration observed by BTS supporters throughout October in honor of the singer.
Jim-in Park, known mononymously as Jimin, is a vocalist and dancer in the South Korean group. Fans worldwide frequently organize charity drives, outdoor advertisements, and specialized events during his birth month as part of fandom traditions.
Concert fan actions and surprises
In addition to the aerial light shows, Peruvian BTS fans are preparing several coordinated actions inside the stadium during the three concerts to surprise the band. Supporters plan to wear traditional Peruvian cultural masks during the song Hooligan and incorporate other traditional elements from the Andean country during the performance of Idol.
Concertgoers also plan to execute a massive crowd wave during the song Swim and illuminate the venue with synchronized red lights during the track Body to body.
At the conclusion of selected songs, the Peruvian audience will chant that BTS is key and Peru knows it. Fans will also display thematic banners tailored specifically for each of the three individual concert dates.
In honor of Jim-in, attendees plan to bring items depicting the singer, including uchiwas, traditional rigid fans featuring his photograph, alongside yellow hearts, and will join in singing happy birthday to him during the tour stop.
