The Central Bank of Russia lowered its official US dollar exchange rate by 23 kopecks to 82.37 rubles for Wednesday, August 12.

The leadership of the Central Bank of Russia has lowered the official dollar exchange rate in Russia to 82.37 rubles, according to data published on the regulator website on Tuesday.



The updated quotes for the US currency will take effect on Wednesday, August 12. For comparison, the official dollar rate in Russia stood at 82.6 rubles on Tuesday, August 11, meaning the regulator reduced quotes for the world reserve currency by 23 kopecks.

Euro and yuan exchange rates

The regulator also lowered the official euro rate by approximately 11 kopecks, moving from 95.29 to 95.18 rubles. At the same time, the Chinese yuan traded in the region of 12.25 rubles on the Moscow Exchange.

Earlier, dollar quotes had exceeded 83 rubles for the first time since March. Guzel Protsenko, head of Alfa-Forex, predicted that the exchange rate of the US currency could reach 84.5 rubles in the short term. She noted that several factors would contribute to this movement, including continued geopolitical and sanctions tension, rising currency demand on the domestic market, and interventions by the Ministry of Finance.
