Russian synchronized swimming team head coach Svetlana Romashina has described relations between Russian and Ukrainian athletes at international competitions, RIA Novosti reported.

Romashina said that while the two teams still keep their distance from each other, it does not prevent them from entering the pool and competing together calmly. She added that the squads stay separate during tournaments, but this creates no obstacles for joint training sessions and performances.

The coach did not report any conflicts between athletes from Russia and Ukraine. She emphasized that the lack of communication has no effect on the competition process.

European championships results

At the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, Russian synchronized swimmers won seven medals, taking three gold, one silver, and three bronze. The result placed the team second in the discipline medal standings.

Romashina is a seven-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming.
