During his tenure in the Senate, he chaired the Public Security Commission, a key committee oversight body. That leadership position ties directly into public safety, which serves as one of the central pillars of his presidential platform.
Campaign strategists state that the main goal of this messaging is to demonstrate that he did not enter the contest for the Planalto Palace, the official seat of the Brazilian presidency, simply because he is Jair Bolsonaro's son. Instead, the campaign aims to show he has built a distinct political trajectory over many years by holding elective offices prior to his presidential run.
This framing is explicitly reflected on his official campaign website, which traces his trajectory from the Military Academy to elected office in Rio de Janeiro and his election to the Senate. The site notes that his story is not about being born close to power, but about the choices he made through successive votes over the years to move Brazil forward.

Campaign representatives note that it would be impossible and unfeasible to deny his family ties, but they intend to shift public focus toward his accumulated legislative experience and political record. In recent speeches during campaign events in Alagoas, a northeastern Brazilian state that forms part of a critical electoral region, Flávio Bolsonaro repeatedly told supporters that he possesses political experience and is ready to serve as president of Brazil.
While attempting to expand his reach, the candidate faces the ongoing challenge of maintaining the support of his primary political base.
