Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue completed a supplementary emergency payment of 11,935,500 euros in child support on Thursday.
The one-off grant of 150 euros per child was distributed to 73,542 beneficiaries covering 81,188 dependent children. The measure targets children born between 1 January 2025 and 31 July 2026 who were not included in the initial payment round.
Correction of bank account details
A significant portion of the newly released funds went to 11,334 beneficiaries covering 21,044 dependent children, who received a total of 2,988,750 euros. These parents had failed to receive earlier payments because they either had not provided a valid International Bank Account Number to tax authorities or had submitted incorrect bank details.
Payment processing became possible after officials notified the affected families, allowing them to submit or correct their bank details. Authorities said the funds will begin appearing gradually in recipients' bank accounts over the course of the day.
Eligibility criteria and tax registry rules
Officials determined eligibility for the financial support using timely income tax returns submitted during the current tax year. The screening process also incorporated updates to tax registry files and recent tax identification number assignments.
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue, known as AADE, is Greece's autonomous government agency responsible for managing national tax collection and administering public disbursements. In Greece, financial benefits and official tax records are linked directly to each citizen's tax identification number, known locally as an AFM.
Pending payments and missing bank accounts
Tax authorities noted that 23,676 tax identification numbers remain without a valid or registered bank account. Payments for these accounts remain on hold because taxpayers have yet to notify AADE of their banking details or because the registered information contains errors.
Officials stated that remaining eligible taxpayers must update their bank account information with the tax agency to receive their outstanding allowance payments.
