Greek health minister visits fire zones as ESY put on standby

Greece’s Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis toured health facilities in wildfire-hit areas on Saturday as emergency services remained on high alert.

With firefighting forces battling active blazes, Georgiadis visited the Megara Health Centre, the Vilia Regional Medical Centre, and the Erythres Health Centre to assess conditions firsthand.

The national ambulance service EKAB and the National Health System, known by its Greek acronym ESY, were kept on standby throughout the emergency.

Georgiadis said there was no reason for concern and that everything was proceeding normally. He added that the ESY was ready for any eventuality and that the health system was always there for citizens.
