Alianza Lima coach Pablo Guede said his team failed to play well in a bitter 2026 Torneo Clausura draw against Sport Boys, a result that puts the club's lead at the top of the standings at risk.
Guede told a press conference that it had been a great match tactically and in terms of what it generated, but that in reality the team did not play well and could not find its combinations, though they still had chances to win it.

Guede praises Sport Boys performance
The Argentine coach acknowledged Sport Boys' performance and credited them for the point they took from the Estadio Nacional. Guede said that in terms of play, they were not as sharp as usual, but praised Boys for a great match, saying much of the blame for the draw belonged to them because they cut off Alianza's passing lanes and combinations very well. He said he loved the match and was happy with the result, because despite playing so badly they did not lose, adding that Boys deserved a lot of credit and he wanted to congratulate them.
Guede said the team needs to improve in every aspect, noting that despite not playing a good match, they still drew and could have won. He said the defense needs work, though he credited Sport Boys' goal largely to their own merit.
Next match against UTC
Alianza Lima will host UTC de Cajamarca on Saturday, August 15, at their Matute stadium. The team needs a home win to stay among the leaders of the Torneo Clausura standings.
The match between Alianza Lima and UTC is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. local time, with broadcast coverage provided by L1 Max.
