Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei has issued a personal threat to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring that Tehran would send the Israeli leader to hell.
The remarks were reported by semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr as Rezaei, who serves at the leadership of Iran's top security body, sharply escalated rhetoric against Israel's political leadership.
Rezaei is a senior political figure in Tehran and a former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran and Israel have been locked in a long-standing regional conflict involving direct strikes and hostilities across the Middle East.
Lebanon and Beirut Red Lines
A significant portion of the Iranian official's statements focused on the ongoing situation in Lebanon. Rezaei said Tehran is watching events in Beirut with special attention and placing particular emphasis on developments in the city's southern suburbs.
He declared those southern districts to be red lines for Tehran, sending a clear message regarding Iran's intended stance toward potential developments in the area. Beirut's southern suburbs, known as Dahiyeh, represent a primary urban base for Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Shia political and military organisation.
Rezaei noted that Lebanon remains at the center of regional confrontation, adding that conditions in the country are directly linked to the broader conflict between Tehran and Israel.
Warning of New Military Phase
Addressing the potential for a further escalation in hostilities, Rezaei claimed Iran would alter its approach during any future military confrontation.
He warned that Iranian forces would prepare for a new phase and argued that any future war would be different from previous conflicts. He added that any subsequent military clash would not follow the same conditions or circumstances as those that preceded it.
Iran has long maintained strategic ties with militant groups throughout the region as part of its wider regional posture. Rezaei did not specify what concrete operational changes Tehran would implement in a future engagement.
