Filmmaker Judd Apatow has intentionally gained about 15 pounds over four years while taking the maximum dose of Ozempic, his wife Leslie Mann revealed on the August 27 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Speaking to guest host Jelly Roll, Mann explained that her husband of nearly 30 years deliberately overrides the appetite-suppressing effects of the popular weight loss medication.

Jelly Roll, who has previously discussed his own experience with weight loss drugs, quipped that the 58-year-old director was overeating Ozempic.

Mann, who shares daughters Maude Apatow, 28, and Iris Apatow, 23, with the 40-Year-Old Virgin director, said Apatow takes pride in defying the drug. "He's very proud of the fact that the pharmaceutical companies don't have control over him," she said. "It's so weird."

Apatow previously outlined his battle against the medication during a 2024 stand-up routine at the Comedy Cellar, captured in a Facebook clip. "It makes you nauseous so you don't wanna eat. But I take it as a challenge to eat through the nausea," Apatow told the crowd, joking he would "f--king prove this medicine doesn't work."

The Knocked Up director revealed he spent $40,000 on the ongoing test. "Sometimes I'll eat ice cream and shoot myself with Ozempic at the same time to see who wins. Just to see who wins the battle," Apatow said, noting it had been a draw so far.

Speaking to Vulture in 2024, Apatow explained his motivation. "My goal wasn't to lose weight; my goal was to outrun Ozempic and prove that you can gain weight on this thing," he said. "I was almost offended at the idea that a drug could make me lose weight. Like, 'F--k you, I'm going to gain weight. Who do you think you are? You think you're stronger than this? My low self-esteem, which is sedated by food, cannot be stopped by your silly injection.'"

Apatow admitted he did not realize he was being prescribed Ozempic when a nutritionist first gave him the shots, leaving Mann shocked. Mann told him: "You never asked what was in a shot. You literally inject yourself with a mystery juice." Apatow conceded he is still taking the drug, saying: "It doesn't work at all. Look at me; I look terrible. I want to look like Sharon Osbourne. I am not making this work."
