National Police officers in Ecuador launched an investigation on Friday morning after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in eastern Quito. Residents in San Francisco de Miravalle alerted authorities through a community chat after finding the victim along Auqui de Monjas road near Guapulo.
According to a police report, the victim was approximately 30 years old. Local residents told authorities they heard a gunshot at 1:30 a.m. that morning, and officers are investigating whether those reports are connected to the death.
Forensic investigation
Police and Forensic Medicine personnel gathered evidence at the scene and removed the body. Specialists at the Forensic Research Center will conduct an autopsy to assist judicial police in reviewing security cameras and identifying those responsible for the crime.
The discovery comes after another mutilated body was found on Wednesday, July 29, in the Llano Grande sector.
