The transfer brings an end to an 18-month tenure in Germany for the forward, who arrived in Frankfurt amidst high expectations. Eintracht Frankfurt issued a brief press release to confirm the departure, concluding the statement by wishing Batshuayi all the best for his future while offering no further official comment.

Batshuayi joined the Hessen club in February 2025 from Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray during the winter transfer window. He made an immediate impact by scoring three goals in 10 league appearances over the second half of that season, helping Eintracht Frankfurt secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Struggles With Form and Injuries

His fortunes declined sharply during the following campaign, as he struggled with persistent foot injuries and poor form throughout the entire season. The striker managed just a single goal across all competitions during the year, converting a penalty as a second-half substitute to earn a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg in November. In total, Batshuayi scored four goals in 21 appearances during his time with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Adi Hütter ultimately had no use for the forward in his squad and dropped him from first-team training sessions. By moving to Abha, the Belgian international is joining the 11th club of his senior career since 2016.

Squad Reduction and Wage Savings

The departure allows Eintracht Frankfurt to free up space in their playing squad and significantly reduce their wage bill. According to German newspaper Bild, Batshuayi earned a base salary of around 3 million euros per year at the German club.

The publication also reported that fellow forward Elye Wahi is on the verge of a transfer to French Ligue 1 side Nice, highlighting Eintracht Frankfurt's ongoing efforts to streamline their squad and remove top earners from the payroll.
