The apartment owner woke during the night after feeling debris falling onto her face. She heard a cracking noise coming from above and rolled off her bed onto the floor moments before chunks of concrete crashed down onto her mattress.

Building condition complaints

Local residents said the building had not undergone repairs for a long time. Property owners had previously submitted complaints regarding the condition of the building's utility systems.

Earlier, residents of a multi-family building in the Chernikovka neighborhood of Ufa complained about rats invading their stairwells and apartments.
