PAOK BC began official preparations for the 2026-27 basketball season on Wednesday, launching their first training session at PAOK Sports Arena under head coach Andrea Trinchieri.
The squad gathered in Thessaloniki with nearly all players present for the opening workout, though guard Nick Calathes and forward Cedi Osman were absent. Youth team players Manis and Ioannidis were also brought up to train with the senior squad.
Coach demands commitment from squad
Addressing the players on the court, Trinchieri expressed gratitude to club management and said he had secured every player he wanted for the new campaign. He told the roster that the team assembled matched his exact vision.
The Italian coach emphasized the historical weight of the PAOK jersey, telling players they must understand what representing the club entails. He clarified that wearing the jersey brings high expectations, but stressed that this responsibility should not be viewed as negative pressure.
Instead, Trinchieri said the jersey represents a serious commitment to the club, instructing the players to always understand their role and give their maximum effort on the court.
Club leadership welcomes new season
Before training got underway, KAE PAOK president Ioannis Petmezas formally welcomed all players, coaches, and staff members. Petmezas offered his best wishes for a successful campaign focused on good health and remaining free from injuries.
General Manager Giorgos Tsiaras also spoke briefly to the assembled team, sharing encouraging words as the club launched its preseason schedule.
