Tourism revenues in Portugal reached 12.87 billion euros in the first six months of the year, an increase of approximately 4.2 percent compared to the same period in 2025, according to data released by the Banco de Portugal on Wednesday.
Tourists spent about 12.348 billion euros in Portugal between January and June of 2025 before earnings climbed to 12.870 billion euros during the first half of this year.

In June alone, tourism revenues approached 2.538 billion euros, rising above the 2.472 billion euros reported for the same month in 2025.
However, monthly tourism revenue slowed between May and June of this year. Spending fell from nearly 2.740 billion euros in May, which was the highest monthly total of the half-year, to approximately 2.538 billion euros in June.
The lowest monthly figure of the half-year was recorded in February during the low season, when tourist spending stood at 1.501 billion euros.
Annual tourism balance and historical records
The latest figures follow a record performance in 2025. The Banco de Portugal reported in February that the travel and tourism balance grew by 1.1 billion euros last year to reach 22 billion euros, the highest nominal figure since the statistical series began in 1948.
Foreign tourist expenditure in Portugal increased by 5 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year. That growth rate exceeded the spending of Portuguese tourists abroad, which rose by 4.5 percent year on year.
Total tourism revenues in Portugal reached 29.131 billion euros in 2025, while spending by Portuguese residents traveling abroad came to 7.155 billion euros, resulting in the net balance of 22 billion euros.
